About the 2012 Celebration of Champions Luncheon
September 25, 2012
The goal of this luncheon is to create awareness about Texas Children’s Cancer Center while raising critical research dollars for the doctors at the Cancer Center to speed finding cures for childhood cancer.
The funds raised will also provide support to the families and will benefit the children cared for at Texas Children’s Caner Center.
Young patients suffering from every type of childhood cancer and blood disorder come to Texas Children’s Cancer Center from every corner of the world to receive the most advanced cancer diagnosis and therapy. Each year, approximately 1,900 new patients with cancer and blood diseases are seen at Texas Children’s, with annual outpatient visits totaling almost 33,000.
About the 2011 Celebration of Champions Luncheon
On Wednesday, September 28, 2011 over 350 guests attended the 4th Annual Celebration of Champions event to raise funds and awareness for Texas Children’s Cancer Center. The event was kicked-off with the “torch of champions” being lit by patients of the cancer center then followed by a fabulous fashion show with 19 cancer center patients walking the runway with the 2011 Community Champions.
Fashions for the children were provided by Dillard’s and the Community Champions fashions were provided by M. Penner and Tootsies. The Fourth Annual luncheon was chaired by Sidney Faust, Judi McGee and Scott Basinger and presented by Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA).
