The fully operational Cancer and Hematology Centers at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus are part of the largest pediatric cancer center in Texas, and one of the largest in the United States. Texas Childrens’s Hospital’s nationally-recognized oncologists and hematologists provide patients with the latest advancements in research and treatments for childhood cancer and blood disorders.
Patients treated at the West Campus Cancer and Hematology Centers receive the same standard of care and enjoy the same child-focused services as those cared for at Texas Children’s Hospital’s main campus.
Patients receive chemotherapy, blood-platelet transfusions, and other supportive medications in the West Campus infusion center. The comfortable setting offers plenty of activities or quiet private rooms, if available.
Nurses in the infusion center are specially trained at placing IVs and caring for central lines. Some surgeries and complex procedures are performed at Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus saving the families a trip to the Texas Medical Center. MRIs and other diagnostic imaging are conveniently located on-site. Children admitted to the West Campus Hospital are treated by a team of specialists.
