McALLEN, TX — On Saturday, February 15, 2014, the Vannie Cook Children’s Cancer Clinic 2014 Radiothon will hit the airwaves on News/Talk 710 KURV, La Ley 102.5 & 92.7 FM, Digital 101.5 FM & Super Tejano 102.1/95.3.
Listen to incredible stories of the children from our community who face cancer each day. Volunteers will be answering calls for donations and pledges from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
During the Radiothon, listeners will be able to call the toll-free number 1-844-275-KIDS(5437)
“We want to reach out to the community and inform the public that there is a growing need for pediatric cancer treatment in our region,” said Juan Carlos Bernini, Medical Director, Vannie Cook Clinic. “Although overall survival rates have increased, local children are being diagnosed with cancer at alarming rates. We hope the Radiothon will help us raise much-needed awareness and funding so that these kids have a chance at a healthy life.”
The Radiothon will broadcast live from the R Communications Studio Headquarters in McAllen, TX.

The Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic, a joint effort of the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Cancer Foundation, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Cancer Center, treats hundreds of new patients each year and is the only comprehensive pediatric cancer treatment facility in the Rio Grande Valley.
