City of Houston grant from the Houston Art Alliance supports Texan French Alliance for the Arts (TFAA) exchange with Lyon Hospital & Gerald Wagner
HOUSTON – August 17, 2011 – Gerald Wagner, a French artist worked with young cancer patients and their siblings to create photograms, which are photographs taken without a camera. A darkroom was set up in the front waiting room of the cancer center outpatient clinic, located at Texas Children’s Hospital. Over 205 children participated in the artistic program which lasted nearly one month.

The Texas Children’s Cancer Center Arts In Medicine Program benefitted from a grant given by the City of Houston. The grant was sponsored through the Houston Art Alliance and aided by private donors. Wagner visted the cancer center for nearly one month–June 1st through June 25th, 2011.
The photograms will be displayed in the clinical lobby at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center. The photogram display travel to the French Consulate, GDF Suez, among other venues that may host the exhibit.
