7 year old sells refreshments for his sister

Second-grader Mitchell Meldrum has a business plan, and it’s working.
The 7 year old has raised over $2,000 selling refreshments this summer to benefit the hospital that treated his sister for cancer.
In 2011, 4 year old Faye spent all summer at Texas Children’s Cancer Center bravely fighting leukemia, a cancer of the white blood cells. It was a hard summer for Faye, and Mitchell hasn’t forgotten how hard Dr. Judith Margolin and the leukemia team worked to help his sister battle cancer.
“I would just lay on my bed and say, ‘please help it get better,’” said Mitchell. “It was hard times.”
Mitchell works almost everyday: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday starting at 5:00 p.m. until all his refreshments are gone. He put together a business plan and built his stand in the Castlegate subdivision in College Station.
Two people stopped by Mitchell's stand and wrote checks, one for $750 and another for $500. He has been dropping off the donations when his sister visits the clinic for her appointments.
Faye has been in remission for 9-10 months and helps her brother serve drinks and cookies at the refreshments stand.
