The Mission of the Quality Transformation (QT) Core is to develop and monitor empirical outcomes that demonstrate excellence in the Cancer Center
March 2, 2010 – Texas Children’s Cancer Center
The Texas Children’s Cancer Center & Hematology Service is pleased to announce our journey into Improvement Science with the launch of the Quality Transformation Core under the direction of Dr. Marilyn Hockenberry.
The Mission of the Quality Transformation (QT) Core is to develop and monitor empirical outcomes that demonstrate excellence in the Cancer Center. The QT Core will use the principles of Improvement Science and Evidence-Based Practice, the Institute of Medicine’s rules for quality patient care and the essential components of a care delivery system for ensuring quality throughout the TCCC/HS. Examples of priority projects for this year include continuing to evaluate clinic work flow processes and using outcome measures to evaluate excellence in care provided by our evidence-based guidelines.
Representatives from the disease teams and disciplines within the TCCC/HS have been appointed to form a QT Team that will oversee the projects. The QT Team will work closely with leaders in the TCCC/HS to implement recommendations based on our QT outcome evaluations.
