Home » Making an impact on oncology training in Botswana
Deborah Kollar, a nurse in pediatric oncology, presented a poster at the International Society of Pediatric Oncology, held Oct. 22 – 25 in Toronto, highlighting the international work being done in Botswana through the Texas Children’s Cancer Center.
Supported by a Texas Children’s Hospital Education Grant to principal investigator Dr. Parth Mehta, assistant professor of pediatrics, the work in Botswana includes providing training to local health care professionals and other educational outreach as well as research on cancer diagnosis, treatment and outcomes. Kollar works closely on these efforts in Botswana with Dr. Jeremy Slone, assistant professor of pediatrics, and Amanda Slone, care coordinator at the children’s cancer clinic in Botswana.
