Dr. Susan Blaney, M.D. and Marilyn Hockenberry, Ph.D. have been appointed to the Children’s Oncology Group. Funded by the National Cancer Institute, the Children’s Oncology Group is an international clinical trial consortium of more than 220 institutions and the largest childhood cancer research network in the country.
Dr. Blaney will serve as the group’s vice chair for five years, and will be responsible for developing and implementing research protocols for children with cancer.
Dr. Hockenberry will serve on the group’s scientific council, reviewing research protocols and developing research standards.
In the Texas Medical Center, Dr. Blaney is deputy director of Texas Children’s Cancer Center and vice chair for research in Baylor College of Medicine’s pediatrics department, while Dr. Hockenberry is leader of Texas Children’s Cancer Center’s Quality Transformation Care and is a professor of pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
