The Brownsville Community Foundation will make an enduring impact on the many children from Brownsville who are receiving another chance at a healthy life through its donation to the Vannie E. Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic. A $5,000 check from the Foundation was presented to the Clinic on Friday, July 26, 2013.
“The donation from the Brownsville Community Foundation means so much to us at Vannie Cook. The growing patient population from Brownsville will benefit greatly from this partnership in hope,” said Victoria Guerra, Director of Development for the Clinic.
The Brownsville Community Foundation was created in 1997 to provide an enduring, sustainable structure for encouraging community philanthropy and improving the lives of people in Brownsville. This is the first year that the Vannie Cook Clinic has received funds from the Foundation.
“The Brownsville Community Foundation was glad to award $5,000 to the Vannie Cook Clinic for children from Brownsville who can’t afford treatment for their cancer and blood disorders,” said Apolonio Borrego Jr., President of the Foundation.
“This cause struck a chord for several board members, and we wanted to show our support to the Vannie Cook Clinic during our first granting cycle in several years. The Vannie Cook Clinic serves a vital need in our community, and we were happy to support them in the important work that they do.”
