Each year the American Board of Pediatrics chooses 10 pediatric hematology/oncology articles for its Maintenance of Certification credit to help pediatricians assess and enhance their clinical knowledge and practice skills in this area. Articles are chosen based on importance of information to hematology/oncology practice.
This year, a manuscript co-authored by Dr. ZoAnn Dreyer (lead author) was chosen: Intensified chemotherapy without SCT in infant ALL: results from COG P9407 (Cohort 3). The article was published in Pediatric Blood Cancer in 2015.
The manuscript reports the results of the largest group of infants less than one year of age with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treated to date with chemotherapy alone without stem cell transplant.
The pilot study for this trial was lead by Dr. ZoAnn Dreyer at Texas Children’s Cancer Center prior to it becoming a national trial.
