Dr. Parth Mehta, a pediatric oncologist, lived in Botswana before moving back to Texas to serve as the chair for the International Program at Texas Children’s Cancer & Hematology Centers. Dr. Mehta learned first-hand that sometimes doctors must step out of their role as a physician to learn about culture and how to handle medical or ethical issues in low-resource international settings.
