Dr. Wendy Allen-Rhoades, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers. She is a board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist specializing in the care of children with sarcomas.
Dr. Allen-Rhoades obtained her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where she also completed her pediatric residency training. She completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology as part of the combined Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital program.
Dr. Allen-Rhoades is conducting research under the mentorship of Dr. Jason Yustein. Her primary efforts are focused on discovering and developing non invasive biomarkers (microRNAs and genomic markers) for pediatric sarcomas to improve early detection rates, guide therapy choices, monitor response to therapy, and aid in the surveillance for recurrence.
Dr. Allen-Rhoades has been awarded numerous honors for her research, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology Young Investigator Award (2013) and the 2016 Pediatric Pilot Award. She is a previous St. Baldrick’s Foundation Fellow and has received funding from the Amschwand Sarcoma Foundation and the Laurel’s Army Foundation to support her work.
