Dr. Matteo Trucco’s research interests include furthering our understanding of the biology of pediatric sarcomas to develop novel therapies for the treatment of these tumors. In particular, Dr. Trucco is studying the differences in how Ewing sarcoma uses nutrients and energy, as compared to normal tissue, to identify therapeutic targets. By exploiting the differences in how Ewing sarcoma uses nutrients, we can potentially starve the tumor while not impacting normal tissue.
The ultimate goal of Dr. Trucco’s research is to translate these laboratory findings into viable treatment strategies and develop clinical trials to improve the survival of patients afflicted with Ewing sarcoma and other tumors.
