About Dr. Donald Mahoney

Dr. Donald Mahoney is the Director of the Texas Children’s Hematology Center and has been treating patients with hematologic disorders for over 30 years. In addition, he has led the Hematology Treatment Team at Texas Children’s for over 20 years. He is a well-respected expert in pediatric hematologic disorders whose advice is frequently sought after by physicians around the city, state and country.

Dr. Donald Mahoney’s current interests includes studies on the natural history and treatment of infants and children with thrombotic complications and strokes. Dr. Mahoney also has interests in chronic neutropenia, platelet disorders and aplastic anemia. Dr. Mahoney participates in clinical research of acute lymphoid leukemia and is an active senior member of the NIH Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
