About Catherine Bollard, MD

Dr. Catherine Bollard’s research interests involve using cytotoxic T cells (CTL) for viral and malignant diseases. Dr. Catherine Bollard is a principal investigator on four clinical trials assessing the safety of adoptively transferred donor-derived virus-specific CTL for the prevention and treatment of viral infection post allogeneic stem cell and cord blood transplant. In addition, she is investigating the utility of this approach using genetically modified virus-specific CTL for the prevention and treatment of viral infection and relapse after transplant. Dr. Catherine Bollard is also evaluating the efficacy of tumor-specific CTL in patients with relapsed EBV positive Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and is the PI on four FDA approved studies for the treatment of lymphoma with T cell therapy. Further, she is developing gene therapy strategies to target the cancer stem cell in lymphoma and to counteract tumor immune evasion mechanisms to enhance the efficacy of adoptive immunotherapy protocols. Finally, Dr. Catherine Bollard is exploring the feasibility of expanding T cells targeting non-EBV tumor-associated antigens for the treatment of EBV-negative lymphomas.

Dr. Bollard’s clinical interests are in bone marrow transplantation and cell and gene therapy.

She is on the editorial boards of The Journal of Bone Marrow Transplantation and The Journal of Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplant.
